Finance, Accounting & Economics Expert
For finance professionals and economists who can find the number a convincing model gets wrong.
What you would do
- Build models and problems where one wrong assumption changes the answer, such as a DCF with the wrong tax rate, with reference solutions.
- Review model work on valuation, reconciliation, pricing and economic reasoning, and show the corrected number.
- Write accounting tasks, such as a revenue-recognition or lease question, checked against the standard.
- Write market and pricing problems, such as an option price or a bond’s duration, with checkable answers.
- Write rubrics that check the numbers, the method and the assumptions.
What we look for
The minimum
- You study at or graduated from a college or university in finance, accounting, economics or a quantitative field.
- A model, analysis or valuation you built yourself and can explain in depth.
- Strong spreadsheet skills: you can rebuild a model from scratch and find where it breaks.
- Care with assumptions, timing and units.
Ideal
- A degree in the field; a master’s, PhD, CFA or CPA is even better.
- Analyst, audit, trading, actuarial or research work, especially at an AI lab or AI company.
- Coding for analysis, such as Python, R or SQL.
- Published research or work others relied on for real decisions.
How the work runs
- Task size
- Tasks take about 30 minutes to 5 hours. Each one shows its estimated time and price before you start, and you are paid that price even if it takes you more or less time.
- Pay
- Per task accepted in review: its estimated time times the project’s rate. A task estimated at 2 hours at $150 an hour pays $300. Accepted tasks are paid within 30 days.
- Hours
- Projects last 1 month to a year. Each sets a weekly minimum, usually about 20 hours of estimated work, and you choose when you work.
- Tools and review
- Your own computer, a spreadsheet, and Python or R when a task calls for them. Every task is reviewed against the project’s written quality standard before it is accepted.
