Social Sciences, Research & Writing Expert

For researchers and writers who check sources, question study designs and write clearly.

What you would do

  • Write tasks that test study design, evidence and argument, such as a survey with a sampling flaw, with reference answers.
  • Fact-check model writing against a provided set of sources, and mark every claim the sources do not support.
  • Edit model answers into clear, correct prose, and explain each change.
  • Compare two model answers to the same question and say which is better, and why.
  • Write and apply rubrics for clarity, accuracy and instruction-following.

What we look for

The minimum

  • You study at or graduated from a college or university in a social science, humanities or writing field.
  • A research, writing or editing project you did yourself and can explain in depth, including your sources.
  • You can say what a study can and cannot show, given its design and sample.
  • Care with sources, evidence and precise wording.

Ideal

  • A degree in the field; a master’s or PhD is even better.
  • Research, journalism, editing or teaching work, especially at an AI lab or AI company.
  • Methods training, such as statistics, survey design or archival research.
  • Published research or writing others cite or rely on.

How the work runs

Task size
Tasks take about 30 minutes to 5 hours. Each one shows its estimated time and price before you start, and you are paid that price even if it takes you more or less time.
Pay
Per task accepted in review: its estimated time times the project’s rate. A task estimated at 2 hours at $90 an hour pays $180. Accepted tasks are paid within 30 days.
Hours
Projects last 1 month to a year. Each sets a weekly minimum, usually about 20 hours of estimated work, and you choose when you work.
Tools and review
Your own computer, plus the sources each task gives you. Every task is reviewed against the project’s written quality standard before it is accepted.
